Workplace Bullying: Costs are Staggering, and on the Rise
Well, the numbers keep rising. Here is the latest reporting on the costs of workplace bullying behaviors in the workplace. I think these numbers include all types of aggressive behavior from abrasive through to “classic” bullying. And the numbers are staggering, in the US, $9 billion/ year from employee turnover. (You know that employers have to figure nearly twice the overall spending when finding new employees vs. keeping current employees.) Then there’s another $3 billion lost due to drops in productivity. Most of this can be avoided with appropriate responses to complaints including skilled investigators and customized coaching.
